WE WELCOME ANY AND ALL COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS

You must be a current member of the PTO to volunteer. You may sign up for as many committees as you like. Below are the committee descriptions followed by the actual committee sign up options.

  • Giant Giving Committee: Help give back to HPHS students and faculty by helping to coordinate our newest tradition at HPHS...The Giant Week of Giving (November 13 through 17) as well as participating in other philanthropic events (check awards and brick sales) that help provide direct financial assistance for faculty grants and student clubs and organizations.
  • Grad Nite: Help plan, fund raise and chaperon Grad Nite. A fun, substance-free, supervised all-night celebration for graduating seniors.
  • Hospitality / Baking: Committee members help with the faculty dinner and refreshments for parents at Open House, Honor Nights and Teacher Appreciation Lunch in May. Bakers are always needed!
  • Freshman Book Sale: Training will take place on August 12 and the Book Sale will take place on August 17 in the morning
  • Sophomore Book Sale: Training will take place on August 11 and the Book Sale will take place on August 16 in the morning
  • Junior Book Sale: Taining will take place on August 12 and the Book Sale will take place on August 15 in the afternoon
  • Senior Book Sale: raining will take place on August 11 and the Book Sale will take place on August 15 in the morning
  • Freshman Lunch: Serve lunch to the Freshman students on the Freshman first day of school. This is for parents of Freshman only.

FOCUS ON THE ARTS 2019 COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS - APRIL 9 – 12, 2019

PERFORMANCE COMMITTEES are responsible for identifying and inviting artists, sending out contracts, serving as the contact for the artists in the planning phase, and hosting the artists while they are at HPHS during FOCUS.

  • Architecture Workshops – responsible for finding local architects for interactive workshops
  • Art Night – assist with planning event - work with local professional and student artist who exhibit and demonstrate their work. Wednesday, April 10, 2019
  • Art Workshops – responsible for finding local artists to hold hands on and demo workshops
  • Assemblies – assist in planning the Opening & Closing Student Assemblies for Focus
  • Creative Writing Workshops – responsible for finding writers for workshops
  • Dance Night – assist in planning the event and hosting the artists. Thursday, April 11, 2019
  • Dance Workshops – responsible for finding dance instructors and groups for workshops & performances
  • Drama Workshops – responsible for finding artists for drama workshops and performances
  • Media Workshops – responsible for finding participants in all genres of media for interactive workshops
  • Music Workshops – responsible for finding musicians for workshops & performances
  • Opening Night – assist in planning the Focus Opening Night Music Event. Tuesday, April 9, 2019
  • Social Justice Workshops – responsible for finding local artists who explore social issues in any genre of the arts
  • Student Showcase – responsibilities include auditioning and organizing student performance showcases

NON-PERFORMANCE COMMITTEES coordinate the important “behind the scenes” activities of FOCUS

  • Hospitality – coordinating food service and hospitality for Focus artists
  • Mailing Campaign – assisting with the fall fundraising letter campaign
  • Opening Night Dinner – organizing and underwriting Opening Night dinner (April 9, 2019)
  • Outreach – hosting visiting schools and groups during Focus
  • Personnel – recruiting and organizing adult volunteers during Focus
  • Photo Records – photographing Focus events
  • Program Book – assist with the copy writing of the program book
  • Spirit Wear & Promotions – assisting with the sales of Focus merchandise
  • Student Scheduling – assisting students with on-line scheduling
